Vantec’s AVOX-100 Jukebox is a nifty 2.5-inch hard drive enclosure: you need to add the hard disk. It can play movies and music and display photographs on a TV set, and also acts as a standalone backup device—you can copy files directly from other USB devices such as thumb drives and digital cameras without the need for a PC. The case is powered by a power adapter; it can also run on standard AA batteries using the provided battery adapter. The device can work like any other external USB storage device (as in plug and play). A little switch lets you toggle between three modes: storage, TV, and USB host. When connected to a TV, files can be accessed via an easy interface. In our test, the device easily played DivX and MP3 files. A slideshow of photographs worked great.
