Kingston’s PRIVACY series of USB Flash drives has always stirred users’ fancies. The drive we received for testing offered a very decent 2 GB. It’s great in terms of design, build quality, and aesthetic appeal. Once inserted into a USB port the drive gets detected, but you can’t access data just yet. Instead, the Kingston software will autorun; the software is on the drive’s system area, which cannot be formatted. The purpose of the software is password protection: only after the correct password has been entered will the drive become ccessible. If the password is
incorrect, the drive will not show up in Windows. The password can only be reset by formattting the drive! Data transfer rate is better than the other drives we’ve tested. The DataTraveller ELITE PRIVACY is perfect for moving large amounts of data to and fro, but Rs 8,500 is a little expensive.
